In the last episode of this series on mechanics, we talked for the first time about trios of mechanical quantities. We saw that trios of non-aligned mechanical quantities lead to special space-time points, or "events", which provide turning points of the dynamics, and truly objective units. At these "proper events", three regimes intersect. But what of places where only two regimes cross? This can happen when the two regimes do not share any mechanical factor; we will talk about that another time. In this video we discuss "pseudo-events", intersections between two power laws that are defined by a mixture of kinematic and mechanical parameters. We show how to properly "mechanize" such intersections, and what is gained from it.
